Vancouver vs Columbus
- surprising odds here as I expected something like 2.25 like when Vancouver hosted San Jose and Philadelphia but we get a 2.60? Vancouver very tough to beat at home, 2-5-1, and shutout Philly here a few weeks ago. I consider Vancouver as one of the worst teams in MLS and their record proves that but since they lost the Canadian title they can put full focus now on MLS. I'm optimistic at least 2 of the 4 injured players (demerit, thorrington, chiumiento, harris) will be available and Vancouver will be hosting a team with several missing starters. The Crew were embarrassed 2-0 in Dallas in a match that wasn't as close as the score and lost 3 players in the game. Their best MF, Ekpo, is suspended along with Andy Iro while their tremendous rookie Balchan pulled his groin vs Dallas. Both teams have been very busy and this will be 3rd match in a week for both so the team with the travel (columbus) is in a big disadvantage. Ekpo has played in all 17 games, Balchan 16, and Iro had just gotten a shot to retain his job in place of Julius James. While I really can't take the Whitecaps with more than 2 unit bet it's worth reiterating just how bad the Crew have been when traveling a good distance. The Crew are now 0-3-9 7/24 when playing an away match at least 2 time zones to their West including 7 straight losses. Only 1 team has beaten the Caps at home all year and Dallas had to come from behind to do it and even though I don't think much of Vancouver, especially without Chiumiento, Columbus simply shouldn't be favored to win.
